Hi, I’m Rachel – the hands and heart behind Seagrass Studios!
The best things are rarely planned—they're found...
For me, that has looked like shark teeth hidden beneath the sand, a shell washed ashore after high tide, or even discovering a creative path I never expected would become my business and full time job.
I was born and raised just outside of Akron, Ohio, where creativity was always part of my life. Some of my favorite memories were spent making things alongside my mom, and I inherited my love for creating from my grandpa, who was an artist himself. Looking back, those moments planted the seed for what would one day become Seagrass Studios.
In 2014, I followed the sunshine to Wilmington, North Carolina, and instantly felt at home. The coast became more than a place to visit—it became where I felt most at peace. Whether I'm hunting for shark teeth, walking the shoreline at sunset, or simply listening to the waves, the ocean has always had a way of slowing me down and inspiring me to create.
What began as a creative outlet during a season of self-discovery slowly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined. Today, Seagrass Studios allows me to share the places, memories, and moments that have shaped me through thoughtfully handcrafted collections inspired by the coast.
When I'm not creating, you'll usually find me with my husband, James, and our sweet pup, Luna—exploring local beaches, trying a new restaurant, or dreaming up the next collection.
More than anything, I hope the pieces I create become part of your favorite memories, whether you're spending the day by the water or simply carrying a little reminder of it wherever life takes you.
